Frow Memorial Lecture: The Making of the British South Asian Working Class

The Working Class Movement Library is delighted to be joined by Taj Ali for this year’s Frow Memorial Lecture.

The talk will delve into the stories of South Asian resistance in Britain, shining a light on an overlooked history of working class political organising. Drawing on the themes of his forthcoming book, Come What May, We’re Here to Stay: A Story of South Asian Resistance, Taj will explore how South Asian communities have fought against racial injustice and for better working conditions.

The Frow Memorial Lecture is named after the library’s founders, Eddie and Ruth Frow, whose passion for activism and working-class history laid the foundation for our archive.

Meet the Speaker

Taj Ali is a journalist and historian. His work has appeared in the Guardian, the Independent and the Huffington Post. He is the former editor of Tribune Magazine and is currently writing a book on the history of British South Asian political activism in the UK.
